The laboratory is a specialized
department of our hospital that provides the most up-to-date
hematology, parasitology, cytology, and blood chemistry diagnostic
findings which can be life-saving for your pet. Because your pet
can't answer questions, pinpointing a problem requires diagnosis.
We seldom rely on outside labs for results which often take hours
or days. Instead, we can make quick, accurate diagnoses, often
within 30 minutes, right in our in-hospital laboratory. Then we can
start treatment immediately. In the laboratory we can examine
different lab speciments to aid us in diagnosing your pets problem.
A stool sample for fecal flotation analysis to find parasites. A
urinalysis to diagnose if your pet has urinary tract infection or
kidney disease. We also have a special camera that transmits the
microscope image to a color monitor enabling us to examine ear
discharge(cytology) to determine the type of ear infection and
appropriate medication. We can perform fine needle aspirates, or
obtaining cells from a tumor using a syringe and needle, to examine
cells under the same microscoe, as shown above, to help diagnose
cancer and the need for surgery.
