THE LABORATORY TEST AREA

The laboratory is a specialized department of our hospital that provides the most up-to-date hematology, parasitology, cytology, and blood chemistry diagnostic findings which can be life-saving for your pet. Because your pet can't answer questions, pinpointing a problem requires diagnosis. We seldom rely on outside labs for results which often take hours or days. Instead, we can make quick, accurate diagnoses, often within 30 minutes, right in our in-hospital laboratory. Then we can start treatment immediately. In the laboratory we can examine different lab speciments to aid us in diagnosing your pets problem. A stool sample for fecal flotation analysis to find parasites. A urinalysis to diagnose if your pet has urinary tract infection or kidney disease. We also have a special camera that transmits the microscope image to a color monitor enabling us to examine ear discharge(cytology) to determine the type of ear infection and appropriate medication. We can perform fine needle aspirates, or obtaining cells from a tumor using a syringe and needle, to examine cells under the same microscoe, as shown above, to help diagnose cancer and the need for surgery.

The I-Stat is a computerized instrument that measures your pets electrolytes and blood gases, in only 10 minutes, measuring critical values that are essential for the correct selection of the type of intravenous fluids your ill pet needs.photo

Our two Abaxis Vetscan and Heska Spotchem chemistry analyzers allow us to analyze three separate patient blood samples simultaneously, in less than nine minutes, to perform presurgical screening test for anesthetic safety or diagnose kidney and liver disease in your ill pet for immediate treatment.photo

Our Hemavt analyzer performs complete blood counts to diagnose if your pet is inflicted with an infection, anemia, dehydration, or blood clotting disorders in only 6 minutes.photo

Our Cardiology department provides advanced cardiac diagnostics and therapy using the Vetronics Computerized ECG analyzer which can perform, analyze, diagnose, and outline therapy for your pets heart disease.  In more complicated cases, we can fax the ECG to a Board Certified Cardiologist for a cardiac consultation and receive an experts opinion on our fax machine very quickly for immediate medical therapy. photo

Our Dermatology department can diagnose if your pets allergies are due to outdoor, indoor, or food allergies through a simple blood test and then start a desensitization therapy program to manage your pets itching.
